Sustainability

Who are we?

The Energy and Sustainability Team is your partner in making a positive impact on the environment. Our team draws on the expertise of our students, colleagues, and the wider community to find solutions to environmental challenges, and to foster a culture of responsibility and sustainability.

We're dedicated to raising awareness and reducing our carbon emissions and overall environmental impact. Sustainability at Warwick is underpinned by our Way to Sustainable Strategy and Energy Strategy.

Recycling

We have recycling bins in kitchens where you can dispose of clean items including cardboard, cans, clear takeaway containers, soft plastics such as plastic bags and clingfilm, and aerosols such as deodorants. Separate glass recycling is also available. Find the full list of items hereLink opens in a new window.

We currently recycle 39% of our waste from accommodation – we need your help to increase this number!

Staying Hydrated

Tap water is safe to drink in the UK. You can fill up your bottle at any taps or use the water Refill points on campus.

Saving Energy

The average water consumption in accommodations is over 100 litres per person per day – and most of this is hot water which is currently heated by fossil fuels. By using less hot water you can help preserve our water resources but also save carbon too. Find more energy and water saving tips hereLink opens in a new window.

Coming Up

We have some interesting initiatives coming up that you get involved with. We’re launching a sustainable behaviour change web platform and app, Warwick Green Rewards, where you can earn rewards for sustainable actions. We’re also rolling out Climate Literacy Training, a project created in collaboration with GSD, which will teach you about climate change and how you can make a difference, with the opportunity to get a certificate for your learning.

Staying Connected

Sign up to our Green Champions network and join forces with like-minded individuals. Want to do more? You can take part in our regular biodiversity events, including species surveys (e.g. hedgehogs, birds and small mammals) and Biodiversity Walks. There are also circular economy initiatives such as the Donation Drive. Keep an eye on our Event calendar for updates.
