Claire Algar (ED&I Officer) is a staunch LGBTQUA+ ally and has been proactive in supporting the Warwick LGBTQUA+ community.

Claire has been quick to identify best practice and to replicate/improve this for staff and students at Warwick. She regularly delivers presentations and training to staff to raise awareness on LGBTQUA+ issues, often around gendered language and terminology, and supports individuals who wish to transition or colleagues who are supporting trans family members.

Because of all of the sterling work with the LGBTQUA+ community, Sandra Beaufoy (ED&I Manager) nominated Claire to Stonewall for an award of ‘Ally of the Year for the West Midlands’, and we are delighted to say that Claire was selected to receive this award, which recognises her commitment and dedication to supporting people who identify as LGBTQUA+.
