What is British Standard BS 9997?
British Standard 'BS 9997:2019 fire risk management system' (FRMS). It is an organisational management system designed to provide a framework for organisations of all sizes and types to manage their approach to fire risk in a holistic, risk based way.
Why is British Standard BS 9997 certification needed?
Implementing and independently certifying a FRMS gives the University of Warwick a robust assurance that we are meeting the requirements of all relevant fire safety legislation. It also shows a commitment by the Executive Team to provide resources, support and awareness to manage fire risk across the organisation in a consistent way.
