Specification for Fume Cupboards

When purchasing fume cupboards, it is important to ensure that they comply with the relevant British Standards:

BS EN 14175-2:2003 outline the Safety and performance requirements that these must meet and

BS EN 14175-6:2006 relates specifically to those which are Variable Air Volume (VAV)

Note: Variable Air Volume systems are not always suitable. Consideration needs to be paid to the fume cupboard(s) location, potential draughts that could be present in the area, how hazardous the material is to be handled and the likely volume(s) of materials involved..
