Statutory Inspection Records

Departments are responsible for ensuring that their own equipment is listed on the statutory inspection register, whether this relates to local exhaust ventilation, relevant pressure systems, lifting equipment or lifting accessories, or bulk storage tanks such as liquid nitrogen. To help facilitate this, there is an Statutory Inspection Report Form which departmental representatives can complete to either add a single item or multiple items using the 'multiple upload spreadsheet' (linked on the right-hand side of this page).

The Estates Department manage the Ashdale Engineering contract relating to the thorough examination and inspections of lifts, lifting equipment and lifting accessories under the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998, and the examination of pressure systems and pressure vessels that require a written scheme of examination (WSE) under the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations 2000. This contract is managed by the Contracts Manager and supervised by the Statutory Compliance Coordinator.

Any lifting tackle that has been inspected by Ashdale Engineering will have the next due date for examination identified using coloured cable ties with the month printed on, in conjunction with the appropriate year sleeve. Departments should display the Ashdale Engineering tagging poster to inform the equipment users of the new process (linked on the right-hand side of this page). Any lifting tackle found without a cable tie or with an out-of-date cable tie must be immediately quarantined until a thorough examination has been completed and the equipment is confirmed safe for use. The responsibility for checking and removing items from service rests with the Department who owns the equipment.

LOLER 1998 & PSSR 2000 reports are held in Ashdale Engineering's Green 2 Portal. Please contact EstatesCompliance@warwick.ac.ukLink opens in a new window to request a Green 2 login to access these reports.

The Estates Department manage the CSW contract with competent contractors who inspect and test Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) as required under the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations. This contract is managed and supervised by the Mechanical Contracts Team.

Whilst the Estates Department manages contracts with competent contractors to conduct inspection and testing under the above regulations, not all defects will fall to the Estates Department to remedy. Any equipment that is Department-owned will require the Department to act post-inspection. A cost code will be required by the Estates Department for any remedial work involving non-infrastructure repairs.
