Release notes for web applications

SiteBuilder 2.509 released

We released SiteBuilder 2.509 on Tuesday 28th June 2022. In this version we made the following bug fixes and improvements:

  • We fixed a bug which prevented converting some page templates to the Components Editor.
  • We made accessibility improvements to the form page template. This enables form fields such as text, email and phone number to support autocomplete. When adding or editing these fields you'll see a dropdown labelled Autocomplete. You can use this to select a specific input type, or you can set autocomplete to Off or Auto. This feature enables the user's browser to provide autocomplete suggestions where possible.
  • We updated sample privacy notices used in the form page template, to link to the relevant central privacy notices. These include: Event attendance, Information request, E-submission and Assessment.
  • We fixed a bug which caused the anti-spam ReCAPTCHA used on forms to display incorrectly on mobile devices. You can edit a form's properties to change its anti-spam setting.
  • We continued work which will enable complex pages such as homepage layouts to be converted to the Components Editor.

SiteBuilder 2.508 released

We released SiteBuilder 2.508 on Monday 20th June 2022. In this version we made the following bug fixes and improvements:

  • We fixed a bug so that the magnifying glass icon in a forum page's search field can now be selected. Previously the icon was partially obscured and so wasn't fully clickable.
  • We now display a message on the Edit permissions screen when permissions are granted to a webgroup which restricts who can see its list of members. To view the members of a group which has permissions on your page, select the link labelled (who?), which is displayed next to the group name. When a webgroup restricts who can see its list of members, SiteBuilder will typically only display the names of the webgroup's owners, but all of the webgroup's members will still have the specified permissions.
  • We continued work which will enable complex pages such as homepage layouts to be converted to the Components Editor.

SiteBuilder 2.507 released

We released SiteBuilder 2.507 on Tuesday 14th June 2022. In this version we made the following bug fixes and improvements to the Components Editor:

  • We made some improvements to single-choice rating sets and multiple-choice rating sets in forms, to ensure they are compliant with accessibility guidelines. We also applied these changes to the form page template in the old visual editor.
  • We introduced more settings when adding buttons to your page. You can now select Extra Large from the Buttons size dropdown, and you can also set the Text alignment of each button's label. To add buttons to your page, select Add special features from the left-hand menu and select Buttons from the sub-menu.
  • We made improvements to the Copy page contents form to make it easier to use, including adding help text and providing clearer validation messages. See our help page for details of how to copy the contents of a Components Editor page, in order to overwrite another page.
  • We fixed a bug so that the text in a hero block is now displayed at the same size in both the Components Editor and on the published page. To add a hero block to your page, select Add layout blocks from the left-hand menu and select Hero block at the bottom of the displayed options.
  • We fixed a bug which caused content inside a block to be deleted when toggling between list styling options, such as Unordered list and Ordered list.
  • We now trim whitespace characters from the start and end of URLs when defining the source URL in a content feed component. To use a content feed component in your page, select Add content feeds from the left-hand menu. From the sub-menu you can select to add a news feed, calendar feed, content feed from another page, data entry feed or Twitter feed.
  • We fixed a bug which caused buttons to be disabled for Firefox users when managing tags at a news page. We also fixed this bug in the old visual editor.
  • We continued work which will enable complex pages such as homepage layouts to be converted to the Components Editor.

SiteBuilder 2.506 released

We released SiteBuilder 2.506 on Wednesday 8th June 2022. In this version we made the following bug fixes and improvements to the Components Editor:

  • We now prompt editors to provide a captions file for SiteBuilder-embedded videos. Accessibility legislation requires captions of audio content, including what is said, who is speaking and non-speech information conveyed through sound.
    • See our help page on how to create a captions file for videos hosted on SiteBuilder.
    • When adding videos hosted on a video sharing site such as YouTube, you will see options to confirm that you've checked for accuracy the captions provided by the video sharing site, or confirm that the video conveys no information through sound.
  • When adding a video, which is hosted on SiteBuilder, to a Components Editor page you can now set its Relative size, Position and Margin. If adding a video from a video sharing website such as YouTube, you won't see these options but can set the video's Width and Height. You can add a video by selecting Add images/media from the left-hand menu, and selecting Audio/video from the sub-menu.
  • We made a change so that closing a dialog while editing launches a confirmation dialog, if you have made changes to the content. This prompts you to select to keep editing, or discard your changes. In 2.502 we applied this change when closing a custom HTML component, or the page head, and have now applied this to other components.
  • We fixed a bug which prevented adding a link after applying styling to the selected text.
  • We fixed a bug which prevented list items from wrapping, when adding an image to a news item.
  • We fixed a bug which meant it wasn't possible to remove some content from custom HTML components.
  • We added links to the Glossary page template to enable users to return to the top of the page.

SiteBuilder 2.505 released

  • We added a Components Editor column to the site content report. This enables you to see at a glance which pages in your site use the Components Editor.
  • When you select the Tiles display format at a News page template, you can now select to display the tags list on the right. Previously, it was only possible to display the tags list at the top of the page.
