Hard to Fill Roles

Is there a role that has been advertised and you have been unable to recruit to? In this case you may wish to consider attaching an apprenticeship opportunity to the role as a ‘grow our own’ campaign before readvertising.

  1. In the first instance, this needs to be discussed with your link HR Business Partner. Does your team have the capacity to support an apprentice? If you would like to proceed, you should then contact the Apprenticeship team to help identify if there is a suitable apprenticeship available.
  2. The next step will involve further discussion with your HR Business Partner and potentially the apprenticeship training provider to ensure the current job description can enable the ‘on the job’ experience required for the chosen apprenticeship. You will also need to ensure that the employment contract is a minimum of 3 months longer than the duration of the apprenticeship to allow for any delays in apprenticeship sign off.
  3. The next steps are the same as the apprenticeship process for new members of staff.
