The Focus of the Session:

 

Following an introduction on research objectives and questions this session will discuss how statistical analysis helps develop and test hypotheses. At a general level it will cover many topics from Chi-squared tests, contingency tables and t-tests through to ANOVA and nonparametric tests. We will also cover issues related to multiple testing in which many hypotheses are implicitly assessed simultaneously.

 

Who is it for?

This series is open to Research Assistants/Post Docs/Research Fellows, etc (ie. all staff doing research).

Session Objectives:

By the end of the session you will have:

  • gained a greater understanding of developing and testing hypotheses
  • gained an appreciation of the importance of research objectives and questions.
