Drum Soc
The Percussion Ensemble is a group for more experienced percussionists who are looking to play challenging and fun percussion parts outside of an orchestral context. Anyone is welcome to join, however prior music experience is highly recommended. They play on both tuned and untuned percussion, and regularly perform in concerts on and off campus. The music played spans across genres: recent performances have featured "Aria Math" from Minecraft, "Thunderstruck" by AC/DC and even "Children's Corner" by Debussy.
The Samba Band is a dynamic musical ensemble that embodies the lively and rhythmic traditions of Brazil. The group plays on a variety of percussion instruments like surdos, tamborims, and agogĂ´s. The band's performances are marked by high energy, synchronized drumming and all-around fun. Anyone is free to join regardless of skill or experience.
The Steel Pans group is a vibrant musical ensemble that showcases the rich and melodic sounds of Caribbean steel drums. The group's repertoire often includes a mix of calypso, reggae, and popular music, all played with a rhythmic and melodic flair. Anyone is invited to join the ensemble, as there are no skill or experience requirements.
DrumSoc also offers the unique opportunity to learn to play the drum kit in free group lessons. To learn more about this, contact Federico White: federico.white@warwick.ac.uk. Drummers of all levels are encouraged to attend socials to get to know each other and participate in our drum battle events!
