A Vibrant Community Orchestra
The University of Warwick Symphony Orchestra brings together over a hundred talented musicians from the student body and University staff, conducted by a mixture of staff and students.
Repertoire Spanning Centuries
Imagine the energy and enthusiasm of young musicians, bringing to you a repertoire spanning centuries. From the soaring symphonies of Beethoven and Bruckner to the dramatic intensity of Verdi's Requiem, the orchestra offers a rich tapestry of musical emotions to transport you. We even have concertos performed by our brilliant students! Find out about our upcoming repertoire here: https://uwso.wordpress.com/concerts/
Calling All Musicians!
Whether you're a music student looking to hone your skills or simply someone who appreciates the beauty of orchestral music, the University of Warwick Symphony Orchestra welcomes you. The orchestra holds open auditions for woodwind and brass players after a welcoming free concert at the start of the term. Rehearsals take place weekly, offering a chance to learn, collaborate, and create something truly special. We have rehearsals weekly in the Butterworth Hall from 6:45pm to 9:30pm.
Been dreaming of an adventure?
The orchestra also tours abroad, performing in prestigious venues like Prague, Vienna, and Budapest. These tours have enabled amazing feats, where we have performed on TV in Ryazan, Russia and at a wedding in Lucknow, India on a revolving stage in front of over 10,000 people!
Experience the Magic of Live Music
The orchestra performs regularly throughout the year on campus at the Butterworth Hall. We often collaborate with the University Chorus and professional soloists, creating unforgettable evenings. We've also had the privilege to play at renowned concert halls like Birmingham's Symphony Hall and Manchester's Bridgewater Hall.
