Peter Mallinson, viola
Peter Mallinson enjoys both modern and period viola performance. As well as being a member of the BBC Symphony Orchestra he has played with many period ensembles including the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, the Hanover Band, Arcangelo, and Music for Awhile. As a soloist Peter has given premières including the UK première performance of Sally Beamish’s That Recent Earth for unaccompanied viola, and the world première of Robin Holloway’s Suite en Saga for solo viola - a work he later performed at the Ravenna Music Festival in its original incidental music form. Always revelling in discovering lesser-known works and composers, Peter is currently exploring and recording with Matthias Wiesner some of the hidden gems of the two-viola repertoire with Meridian Records. Before studying at the Royal Academy of Music with Martin Outram and Jane Rogers, Peter read music at St Catharine’s College, Cambridge, where he was a Choral Scholar and holder of a University Instrumental Award.
Lynn Arnold, piano
Pianist Lynn Arnold is well-known for her collaborative musicianship and for her commitment to advocating and performing British music. Recognised for the breadth, scope and depth of colour of her interpretations, Lynn performs frequently both across the UK and internationally as a chamber musician, soloist and accompanist. Lynn was the Founder Director of the Butlers Marston Concert Society in 2009; since then she and the Society have brought outstanding chamber music to rural, and most recently, online audiences.
A founding member of the Warwick Piano Trio, the Arnold Ensemble and the piano duet "Four Hands" with Charles Matthews, Lynn also collaborates with individual artists including Roderick Williams, Gabriela Demeterova, Roger Coull and Peter Mallinson. “Four Hands: Lynn Arnold & Charles Matthews” have recently released two albums for Albion Records; Lynn is delighted to have collaborated with the Tippett Quartet for Dutton Epoch and Toccata Classics for three discs, and looks forward to further planned projects.
An alumna of Cambridge University where she held a celebrated Instrumental Award, Lynn won much recognition in various competitions during her subsequent study at the Royal Academy of Music, not least the prestigious Sir Henry Richardson Award from the Musicians Benevolent Fund. A former Park Lane Group Young Artist, Lynn studied with Vanessa Latarche, Michael Dussek and Patsy Toh.
Lynn is on the staff of the Royal Academy of Music and has coached chamber music at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. A member of the ABRSM grade examining panel, Lynn teaches a select number of pupils at Warwick University and privately.
