I would like a mentor

        • My mentor is fantastic and I always look forward to our meetings. It has helped me to mature into my role and to feel more confident.

The Mentoring Scheme is currently paused. If you feel you would benefit from having a mentor you are encouraged to discuss this with your line manager. Your line manager can help to identify a colleague who would be suitable as your mentor.

      Mentee's Handbook

Take a look at our handbook for mentees, to help you understand what your responsibilities are and how to get the most out of your mentoring.

Mentoring enables individuals to receive developmental support from a colleague with relevant professional background, skills and knowledge. It can help to broaden knowledge of other departments within the University and create relationships outside of your immediate area of work.

Mentoring can support with many aspects of your development such as career development, building confidence, building knowledge of the University and the HE sector, learning about a specialism such as project management or customer service and developing leadership and management skills.
        • Mentoring is a longer-term relationship, typically lasting for 6 months to a year, but it may last longer.
        • The frequency and length of mentoring meetings is to be determined by both parties. Meeting every 6-8 weeks for 60 minutes is suggested as a guide.
        • You may identify actions to carry out between meetings with your mentor, that are helpful to your development.
