Residential Community Assistants (RCAs)
Residential Community Assistants (RCAs)
As part of the Wellbeing and Safeguarding Directorate, RCAs support the Residential Community Team (RCT) in providing a peer led service to ensure that all students who reside on campus are supported in the transition to university life.
RCAs proactively contribute to the delivery of four key areas of residential life; Community Wellbeing, Community Building, Community Engagement and Community Behaviour, which aim to facilitate the development of inclusive hall communities and promote a sense of belonging alongside physical and mental wellbeing.
RCAs support the delivery of an inclusive and comprehensive programme of events and activities, helping to promote social integration and providing pastoral advice and support to residential students. They play an integral role in supporting students’ social, personal and academic transition into the Warwick community whether this be at drop in sessions, planned student visits, hosting events or general walk-arounds engaging and getting to know our community.
RCAs are expected to work 12-15 hours per week for the entirety of the academic year, including vacation, which includes a rota of on-call (student visa holders are exempt from working on-call). RCAs respond to incidents and issues throughout shifts alongside complete proactive engagement to promote wellbeing, supporting the Warwick University discipline process, upholding the University’s Values in relation to behavioural expectations.
