Introduction to University of Sanctuary

Friday 17 December 2021
11am - 12pm

This International Migrants Day, we are looking at support for students from forced migration backgrounds. All are welcome to attend - staff, students, and any members of the public interested in learning more about City and Universities of Sanctuary and what Warwick is doing in this area.

Warwick is a University of Sanctuary located in Coventry, a City of Sanctuary - but what do these titles mean? Find out more at this free online event!

Maryam Taher (University of Sanctuary Co-ordinator at City of Sanctuary UK) will talk about:

  • The work that City of Sanctuary do building a movement to provide support, dignity, and welcome to people seeking sanctuary.
  • How Universities of Sanctuary fits into the movement.
  • Her own lived experience and what made her passionate about this work.

We will also share an overview of the work that Warwick is doing to welcome refugee and asylum seeker students in our community.

There will be time for questions for both Maryam and colleagues working on University of Sanctuary at Warwick. Please do use the form below to submit any questions you have in advance of the event.

"City by city, community by community, we’re building a more welcoming UK for people forced to flee their homes."

City of Sanctuary UKLink opens in a new window.
