Dr Claire Lucas

Dr Claire Lucas, is Director of Studies for Biomedical, Systems and General Engineering. Claire has created an innovative programme which combines Engineering Science with specialist knowledge in mathematical modelling, data science and software engineering principles. The curriculum is informed by her industrial experience as a mathematical modelling specialist at Jaguar Land Rover. Claire is passionate about inclusivity in Engineering Education and has developed new teaching, group work and assessment methods to support all students. Over 2015-2019 37% of her students were female and in 2019, Claire won the Women’s Engineering Society prize for her impact on and involvement in STEM.

Outside of Warwick, Claire is a QAA subject specialist for Engineering, an academic accreditor for the IET and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She has two children and is a regular at her local park run.
