Semester to full year mobility opportunities
Am I eligible?
Where they are available, places to study overseas will be allocated by your department. Discuss your interest with your tutor and academic department Study Abroad Coordinator. Some degrees have a mandatory year abroad, and some degrees will have pre-existing agreements with specific institutions.
All students are expected to be performing to high standards in their degree, at least to 2:1 equivalency, prior to departure.
To study overseas, it is advisable that you have previously studied or have some experience of the language of the country you intend to study in. For courses with mandatory study abroad, this requirement was built into the entry requirements. Most partner Universities require B2 language level.
How do I apply?
For students interested in undertaking semester or year long mobility, they will have the opportunity to attend briefing sessions delivered by both the Student Mobility Team and their own department in order to better understand the available study and work abroad options, including available destinations during the Autumn Term. Applications are then completed by students on Evision and submitted to academic departments for nominations to be made.
Once departments have selected their students to go on exchange early in the Spring Term, the names are passed to Student Mobility. We then nominate you to the partner university.
Students will hear directly from their host university on individual application processes. Each university will have their own procedures and deadlines for their incoming study abroad students. Students will need to follow the process carefully.
If you are looking at two different countries, perhaps with the option of studying one semester in one place then moving to another partner, please make sure you check the semester dates to ensure there is sufficient time to transfer. This may also result in a longer break between the two placements and you will need to take this into account when selecting your choices.
