Hello, I am Ritchie Mae Tonzo Gamot. My friends fondly call me Chimie. I am a PhD by Research student at the Centre for Scientific Computing under the supervision of Prof. Mark Rodger.
I earned my Bachelor's degree in Applied Mathematics last April 2000 from the University of the Philippines (UP) Mindanao and was funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) - Science Education Institute under the Philippine Republic Act 7687 during my 4 years of study. I worked for a year in the National Statistics Office - Region XI before taking up a teaching position at my alma mater. I then proceeded to go on a study leave (Local Study Fellowship) to start my master's degree in 2002 after a year of teaching. I finished my Master's degree in Computer Science from the University of the Philippines Diliman last April 2005. My masteral study was funded by the DOST-Philippine Council for Advanced Science and Technology Research and Development (PCASTRD) Graduate Scholarship. I returned back to my home university afterwards and taught until the end of 2011.
Sometime in March 2011, I received a confirmation of a scholarship, called Warwick Postgraduate Research Scholarship from Warwick University. Alongside this scholarship I was also awarded bursary by the Centre for Scientific Computing. I applied for a study leave to pursue PhD in Scientific Computing and started with working on my research degree starting January 2012. I was also given additional funding thru the UP Doctoral Studies Scheme.
