Christian Caton
About Me
I am a postgraduate research student at the Warwick Institure for the Science of Cities (WISC). I have a BA(hons) in the field of Architecture awarded by De Montfort University, as well as an MSc in Urban Informatics and Analytics which I achieved at the Univeristy of Warwick. I am currently studying towards my PhD in Urban Science under the supervision of Professor Stephen Jarvis.
Research
My current research aims to examine city faced challenges, and the radical design solutions being proposed in tackling these issues; exploring how the public respond to these creative solutions and how social media interaction might play its part in these types of design discourse. I want to consider how capabilities of crowd-generated social media data might contribute in shaping people’s behaviour and perceptions. This builds from my previous work in Architecture and my MSc work, which highlighted existing research in this field; discussing the role of social media in affecting our perceptions of architecture, and how it is currently being utilised in the workflow of design.
