How did you find out about Warwick?

I heard about Warwick through social media.

Did you consider studying anywhere else? What made you choose Warwick?

Warwick is very modern, so that it allows me to get involved in diverse optional modules and find my true interests. Also, Warwick is highly respected by big firms. Reputations always matter.

How did you feel to be awarded a scholarship?

Excellent. I can save a large amount of money for my family and have funds to attend school activities.

Who was the first person you told when you received the news about your scholarship and how did they react?

My mother. I received the email in the evening local time. We shouted out and hugged each other. I was so excited that I failed to fall asleep that night.

How did you apply and did anyone help you with your application form and visa application?

I committed to an agency to apply for a visa. The biggest difficulty is that the CAS number was issued too late: it was merely about one month ahead of the course start date. And there were countless applications submitted so out visas weren’t obtained on time.

What was your first impression of Warwick when you first walked around campus?

The buildings and infrastructure are modern, and the campus is clean and natural. It’s generally a comfortable place.

What is the best thing about Warwick?

Warwick allows UGs significant freedom to select optional modules.

What is the worst thing?

Warwick is a modern uni, so it doesn’t have an outstanding reputation in Asia and US.

How is your accommodation?

My accommodation is Bluebell Hall of Residence. It’s the most pricey and thus has the best settings. I feel like I’m living in a hotel. But the rooms are a little bit smaller than ideal.

Are you a member of any societies?

I have applied for Career Society but the results will be out at the end of October. After joining the society, the main mission of the vacancy I applied for will be responsible for liaising speakers and sponsors of our events and also maintaining the update of the podcast through cooperating with the IT department.I’m applying for some Chinese societies. If enrolled, I would help students to find career opportunities and make it clear how to apply for postgraduate programs.

What are your plans when you graduate?

Apply for a MSc in US to be a data scientist or quant.

What would you say to someone considering applying for an Undergraduate Global Excellence scholarship at Warwick, what would it be?

You should have a clear future plan like: what’s your purpose of entering University of Warwick. You should also prepare yourself for that purpose by participating in extra-curricular activities.

What one thing makes you happy about Warwick?

I met many kindred spirits in Warwick. We can attend help activities, like CV clinic, held by societies and prepare ourselves well for accomplishing future plans.
