How did you find out about Warwick?
I heard about Warwick for the first time from a few friends who had studied at Warwick already and from my school's university counselor, who spoke very highly about the university and its academics.
Did you consider studying anywhere else? What made you choose Warwick?
There were two main reasons that made Warwick stand out to me from all the other universities. The first reason was Warwick's academic reputation, especially in my field of choice, business, and finance. The second reason was the beautiful campus, which I fell in love with the first time I saw it.
How did you feel to be awarded a scholarship?
I felt really special and appreciated this opportunity very much! I was so ecstatic that I could study at one of my dream schools after getting the scholarship. It meant so much to me and my family to be appreciated and be one of so many to be awarded the global excellence scholarship.
Who was the first person you told when you received the news about your scholarship and how did they react?
I was in Cyprus with my friends when I received the decision, and I also my parents straight away, who were over the moon when they heard I had been given such a scholarship.
How did you apply and did anyone help you with your application form and visa application?
Both the application form and visa application process were pretty straightforward, and I didn't need any help during the application process after collecting all the documents required. I had no difficulties during the entire process.
What was your first impression of Warwick when you first walked around campus?
I had two things going on in my mind when I first walked around campus during welcome weekend. I was awestruck by the beauty of all the different places around campus and also shocked at the sheer size of the campus.
What is the best thing about Warwick?
I feel the best thing about Warwick is the people that you meet here, which are from all around the world, and it is so easy to meet like-minded people. The university campus is also one of the best things as there is always something happening and it is always so lively.
What is the worst thing?
The worst thing about Warwick is that it is not located in a big city like London, so there aren't many places to go around Warwick. However, it is a minor issue because there is a train that takes you to London in one hour.
How is your accommodation?
I live in Claycroft on campus. I loved the homely feel of the accommodation and all my flatmates were really nice, so it made the moving-in journey even more enjoyable.
Are you a member of any societies?
I have been part of many societies and their events. I became the Head of Reporting at the Warwick Accounting Society, where I am responsible for their FTSE Mondays. I am also a member of Warwick Finance Societies and Warwick India Forum, which have organised several networking, informative, and social events in my time here at Warwick. They are a great way to meet new people and become part of the community.
What are your plans when you graduate?
When I graduate, I'd like to do a masters' in Finance, and then I aspire to work in Asset Management in London. In the future, I would love to create my own asset management firm.
What would you say to someone considering applying for an Undergraduate Global Excellence scholarship at Warwick, what would it be?
I would tell them to show how excited they are to study at Warwick and write about their massive future plans and ideas, even if they seem too farfetched right now.
What one thing makes you happy about Warwick?
The one thing that makes me happy about Warwick is the massive community of teachers and students that are present here, and the chance to make connections that will last a lifetime.
