What is the value of your scholarship?
Half-fee
Was obtaining a scholarship the deciding factor to study at Warwick?
Yes
How did you hear about Warwick?
Taking Economics during my last two high school years, I was more interested in the business-side of the economy and consequently started learning more about how I can be more involved in that interest. When I decided to study Business Management at university, it became apparent through online research that Warwick is a world-class university with excellent teaching.
How did you hear about the scholarship?
I heard about the scholarship through my university counsellor.
Why did you choose Warwick over other UK or international universities?
Warwick has excellent teaching and a beautiful campus. I believe that experiencing campus life at university is something every student should strive to do as it enriches the university experience. Warwick was also very accommodating during university events during my high school time and I knew friends who had previously chosen Warwick.
Who was the first person you told when you received the news about your scholarship and how did they react?
I was on my graduation trip with my friends. When I opened the email, I could not believe my eyes and immediately called my parents to inform them. All I could hear through the phone was excitement and happiness, and knowing that I had done this myself made me proud of the work I had put in.
How did you apply and did anyone help you with your application form and visa application?
There were no difficulties as Warwick was very clear and consistent with their communication.
What was your first impression of Warwick when you first walked around campus?
I was very impressed as I did not visit the campus before. It had beautiful greenery and being able to see so many animals at the pond was something that I did not expect at all, so I was positively surprised. The campus was bustling with people and filled me with excitement.
What is your favourite part about the University of Warwick?
My favourite part about Warwick is the community. People live close to each other in their first year and grow closer to people. As you are living with these people who turn into your friends, you do everything together. From walks to Tesco to going to dine in Leamington Spa, the community becomes your family away from your family.
What is your least favourite part about the University of Warwick?
My least favourite part about the University of Warwick is that Leamington Spa and Coventry are not necessarily big cities. So, when you crave seeing a larger city it takes a bit longer to go to London, but 1.5 hours is fine nonetheless.
What are your impressions of your accommodation? Is this on campus/off campus?
My accommodation was on campus and called Bluebell. I was very happy with my choice as I felt like I was chosen to be in this flat due to the answers I submitted in the survey we received beforehand. It was very close to all my lectures and had a beautiful lake right nearby.
What do you plan to do when you graduate?
I plan to take on work in the financial industry in London.
How has receiving a scholarship helped you to make the most of your experience from the opportunities at
Warwick?
Receiving the scholarship has made it financially easier to go to university. Especially when you are studying at University, you do not want financial pressures to stress you too much.
Did receiving a scholarship encourage you to engage with other scholarship recipients from other nationalities/cultural backgrounds?
Yes, during the meeting of the Scholarship awardees, I was able to meet many likeminded people from other backgrounds.
How did the University of Warwick help in easing you into living in a new country/environment?
Warwick was incredibly helpful with any queries. Especially the fact that student societies hosted welcome events on campus was a great way to meet new people.
What is one standout memory from your time at Warwick so far?
One standout memory from my time at Warwick is the amazing time I had with WBSS (Warwick Business School Society). The first social meeting to get to know the other executives was going out to drive kart and have a dinner. I felt really happy to meet likeminded people.
If you could give a piece of advice to someone considering applying for an Undergraduate Global Excellence
scholarship at Warwick, what would it be?
Put in more effort than you think you have to into applying. When writing answers to the application question(s), experience the feeling of having received the scholarship. This helps you answer why exactly you want the scholarship.
