How did you find out about Warwick?
I heard of Warwick through seniors in my school and through the internet when searching the best universities in the UK.
Did you consider studying anywhere else? What made you choose Warwick?
Firstly, Warwick's campus life was more suited to me than London's city campus life. Furthermore, Warwick's high employability and student satisfaction ratings also made it a lucrative option. And last, but not the least, I spoke to students who attended Warwick and was convinced of making it my dream school after hearing the positive things they had to say.
How did you feel to be awarded a scholarship?
It felt very rewarding for all the hard work I'd put in and it also made me immensely relaxed about the fact that I wouldn't be pressuring my parents on the expenses anymore.
Who was the first person you told when you received the news about your scholarship and how did they react?
I called my mom and told her about the scholarship. She was ecstatic and extremely proud of me.
How did you apply and did anyone help you with your application form and visa application?
I applied for my UK Visa by myself. The form was relatively self-explanatory and I only seemed advice from my parents on a couple of instances. Otherwise, I completed the process myself.
What was your first impression of Warwick when you first walked around campus?
When I first walked around, I thought how beautiful campus was and how surreal it was for me to live and experience what I'd seen in pictures for over a year.
What is the best thing about Warwick?
The best thing about Warwick is the work-enjoyment balance the university allows and encourages us to have through its constant strive for academic rigour yet support of creative activities and general leisure.
What is the worst thing?
The Tesco is too far away, and the on-campus food is too expensive.
How is your accommodation?
I absolutely love Cryfield Townhouses. I've set up my room just how I wanted to and am spellbound by how it looks now. My accommodation meets all my convenience needs being very close to the gym and central campus. My accommodation is placed on campus.
Are you a member of any societies? If so, what have you done with them?
I'm a member of the F1 society for which I've participated in quizzes and gone for race viewings. I’m also a member of the Engineering society and participate in the weekly talks they hold.
What are your plans when you graduate?
I hope to join the automotive industry when I graduate and preferably move in to EV Technology, an up and coming arena.
What would you say to someone considering applying for an Undergraduate Global Excellence scholarship at Warwick, what would it be?
My best piece of advice would be to be honest about why you deserve the scholarship and to do your best to show the university the perks you can bring to it. Write your heart out, keep it simple, and don't try getting crafty with the essay prompts. They're fairly straightforward and simply worded, indicating that they expect an equally straightforward and simply worded answer.
What one thing makes you happy about Warwick?
How much I'm enjoying campus life and being around my friends. I've an amazing set of flatmates and close friends who make the whole university journey so much more enjoyable.
