How did you find out about Warwick?
I looked at the UK university rankings, from there I got engaged with the university at virtual open days and live chats with older students from the university, it caught my eye from the beginning.
Did you consider studying anywhere else? What made you choose Warwick?
I had heard very good things about it, from the Student Room or from older students at university.
How did you feel to be awarded a scholarship?
I was very grateful to be awarded with a scholarship since international student prices went crazy after Brexit. It felt great to be heard.
Who was the first person you told when you received the news about your scholarship and how did they react?
I told my dad, who was, as well as me, waiting for the results impatiently. When he heard the news he was so excited for me, as well as proud. He knew I put a lot of effort into my application and knew I deserved it.
How did you apply and did anyone help you with your application form and visa application?
I did it on my own, honestly, I did not find any difficulties, although it was a long process.
What was your first impression of Warwick when you first walked around campus?
I remember arriving by car with my father, the first glimpse I had already surprised me. Once I left all of my luggage in my accommodation, I started to walk around campus, to investigate. The smile on my face did not end, I was too excited. Because of Covid, I wasn't able to visit any university, therefore, I did not know what a campus could look like. Warwick honestly surprised me, with the bars, cafes, parks, buildings... It was incredibly surprising.
What is the best thing about Warwick?
In my opinion it is the friendships I have made. I have been here just for a month and I have made incredible friends I know I will keep for many years. When living on your own you make your friends your family. You spend all of your time with them, go to the library with them, go to t-bar, clubs, have dinner... All the activities you do are accompanied by your friends that become your family.
What is the worst thing?
What I would say I like the least would be the weather in the UK. It is not specifically about Warwick, but it is what I can say coming from Spain, where you can at least see the sun every morning!
How is your accommodation?
My accommodation is Claycroft, it is on campus. I am extremely happy with the location of it and the insides as well. It is located very close to all of my lectures and very importantly to the library. I am very close to Tesco as well, which makes it easy to walk back with a lot of grocery bags.
Are you a member of any societies?
I am still deciding what societies to join. I will join the Spanish one surely, and I am also interested in Line society and the Green Party society.
What are your plans when you graduate?
It is something I do not like to think so much in advance, I want to take my course and see where life takes me.
What would you say to someone considering applying for an Undergraduate Global Excellence scholarship at Warwick, what would it be?
I would say to be totally honest in your application and mostly just prove how much you want the scholarship!
What one thing makes you happy about Warwick?
The campus life makes me extremely happy and to enjoy all of its facilities and discover them one by one.
