Summer School Ambassador Recruitment

Summer School Ambassador Recruitment
Programme Dates: Tuesday 15 July - Friday 25 July 2025 (please also see compulsory training dates below)
Introduction
The Warwick Pre-University Summer School (PRESS) is a 10-night residential programme for 16-17 year olds, who wish to experience what it is like to study at undergraduate level at a top UK university. We offer a choice of Four courses, A Taste of Economics and Finance, A Taste of Social Sciences, A Taste of Science and Engineering and A Taste of Arts and Humanities. Alongside their academic pathway students also undertake skills and development sessions and experience a busy social programme including a welcome BBQ, team-building event, bowling, day trips to Oxford and London including a West End show. It is a really exciting programme, and we try to make sure that the students have a brilliant student experience during their time with us!
We appoint a team of Summer School Ambassadors, Lead Summer School Ambassadors and Night Duty Managers to support the programme. The Ambassadors play a very important role because they help us meet our legal duty to safeguard these students while they are on the programme; they create a welcoming and inclusive environment and encourage active participation in all elements of the programme; they enhance the student experience by sharing their own experiences of applying to university and student life.
The Summer School Ambassadors, Lead Summer School Ambassadors and Night Duty Managers are required to stay overnight in accommodation with the students for the duration of the programme, so on campus accommodation in Halls of Residence is provided as part of the remuneration package. The 10-night programme is fully catered for Ambassadors and Night Duty Managers. Accommodation is also provided the night before the programme begins (Monday 14 July) for Summer School Ambassadors and for two nights before the programme begins (Sunday 13 July) for Lead Summer School Ambassadors only.
DBS
These roles require an enhanced DBS check due to the age of the students attending the programme (16-17 year olds) and the nature of contact the Ambassadors and Night Duty Managers will have with the students (direct and unsupervised).
You will need to attend the Unitemps office on campus for two face to face appointments; one right to work check appointment and one DBS check appointment. You must be able to attend these face-to-face appointments and provide all documents required before 30th April 2025.
For an enhanced DBS check, you will need to provide three types of documents to prove your identity and address. You can view a full list of documents on the UK Government DBS webpages here. If you have lived in a different country, you may also need to provide a Certificate of Good Conduct; further information about this can be found on the UK Government website. You must be able to provide these documents before 30th April 2025.
Hours of Work
You will be an integral part of the exciting 10 day programme and will need to be available for the full duration of the programme, including overnight (which will include staying in a flat with students each night for the whole night) and for training days detailed below. This is an intensive programme which will include some long days when trips are taking place. Specific hours will be confirmed via a rota nearer the time, but you must be fully available with no restrictions on your working hours for the duration of the programme.
There are 3 roles available and details of each role can be found below:
If you wish to apply for multiple roles, there is space on the Lead Summer School Ambassador application form and the Night Duty Manager application form to indicate your interest in other roles.
