Summer School Ambassador Recruitment
Summer School Ambassador Recruitment
Programme Dates: Tuesday 14 July - Friday 24 July 2026 (please also see compulsory training dates below)
Introduction
The Warwick Pre-University Summer School is a part of a suite of summer schools delivered by Warwick Global Academy, which includes the Warwick Summer School for students aged over 18. The Pre-University Summer School is a 10 day residential programme for 16-17 year olds who are interested in attending University. Students will attend taster sessions with Warwick lecturers in one of five course areas (Economics and Finance; Science and Engineering; Social Science; Health, Medical and Life Sciences; or Arts and Humanities) and will also take part in personal development sessions. Alongside the academic and skills programme, students will also take part in a fun and engaging social and cultural programme
including a welcome event, team-building event, trip to an activity centre and trips to Oxford and Warwick Castle. It is a really exciting programme, and we try to make sure that the students have a brilliant student experience during their time with us!
We appoint a team of Summer School Ambassadors, Lead Summer School Ambassadors and Residential Night Supports to support the programme. The Ambassadors play a very important role because they help us meet our legal duty to safeguard these students while they are on the programme; they create and uphold a safe, welcoming and inclusive residential environment and represent the University of Warwick positively and professionally. Ambassadors will encourage active participation in the programme and enhance the student experience by sharing their own University experiences and leading social time activities.
The Summer School Ambassadors, Lead Summer School Ambassadors and Residential Night Supports are required to stay overnight in accommodation with the students for the duration of the programme, so on campus accommodation in Halls of Residence is provided. The 10-night programme is fully catered for Summer School Ambassadors, Lead Ambassadors and Residential Night Supports. Accommodation is also provided the night before the programme begins (Monday 13 July) for Summer School Ambassadors and for two nights before the programme begins (Sunday 12 July) for Lead Summer School Ambassadors only.
DBS
These roles require an enhanced DBS check due to the age of the students attending the programme (16-17 year olds) and the nature of contact the Ambassadors and Residential Night Supports will have with the students (direct and unsupervised).
You will need to attend the Unitemps office on campus for two face to face appointments; one right to work check appointment and one DBS check appointment. You must be able to attend these face-to-face appointments and provide all documents required before 27th April 2026.
For an enhanced DBS check, you will need to provide three types of documents to prove your identity and address. You can view a full list of documents on the UK Government DBS webpages here. If you have lived in a different country, you may also need to provide a Certificate of Good Conduct; further information about this can be found on the UK Government website. You must be able to provide these documents before 27th April 2025.
Hours of Work
You must be available for the entirety of the programme and the training days. You must be in the UK for both training days, even the one that is online. You will work shifts, on a rota that can fall anytime between 07:00 and 22:30. When you are not on shift, you must stay on campus for the entire period of the programme, in case of a safeguarding issue. The students have a curfew between 22:00 – 08:00, during which time all students and Ambassadors must remain in their flats. This is an intensive programme which will include some long days. Specific hours will be confirmed via a rota nearer the time, but you must be fully available with no restrictions on your working hours for the duration of the programme.
There are 3 roles available and details of each role can be found below:
If you wish to apply for multiple roles, there is space on the Lead Summer School Ambassador application form and the Residential Night Support application form to indicate your interest in other roles.
If you have any queries, please email preunisummerschool@warwick.ac.uk
