Ipek Gorur Testimonial

Name: Ipek Gorur
Pre-University Summer School course studied: A Taste of Social Sciences in 2024

What encouraged you to choose to join the Warwick Summer School?

I was motivated to join the Warwick Summer School because it gave me an opportunity to explore my interests further and better understand what I want to do in the future.

What skills and knowledge did you gained during the 10 days that you have found most beneficial?

The Warwick Summer School programme made me more confident in my social abilities, as I managed to befriend other students very quickly, and moved me out of my comfort zone by showing me what life at university could potentially be like for me.

Did you build any new friendships during your time on the summer school?

I made many new friendships during my time at Warwick Summer School, including friends from my classes, flat, and the general campus. It was invigorating to be surrounded by individuals who shared similar interests as me and were equally dedicated to developing and learning more about them.

What was your highlight of taking part in Warwick Summer School?

The highlight of the experience for me was the discussions we had during class. Although the lectures given by professors were each wonderful, the lessons they taught stuck with me more because I was able to openly engage with the ideas thy taught through dialogue with my peers, allowing me to relate to the subject more personally.

What advice would you give to future students participating in the Warwick Summer School to get the most out of the programme?

Don’t be afraid to participate and engage in classroom discussions, to ask questions, or to challenge what someone else has said: that is how the real learning occurs.
