Warwick at Night - Stars, Planets & Biofluorescence

Warwick at Night - Stars, Planets & Biofluorescence
Join us for the first event in our Warwick at Night series where we explore the mystery of the night sky, get up close to nocturnal wildlife and venture out into the magical world of biofluorescence.
You will join Dan Bayliss, Director of the University's Marsh Observatory for a live experience operating the telescope, experience a planetarium show with Warwick's Astrophysics Group and then venture outside with the Energy & Sustainability Team to hunt for biofluorescence in nature with the help of UV torches!
By joining us, we hope you will gain a greater appreciation of the campus at night and enjoy an evening filled with fun. This event is open to staff, students, and the local community.
Hope to see you on Tuesday, 18th March 2025 between 18:30-21:30 on campus. Book your ticket hereLink opens in a new window.
Observatory
Peer into the depths of space and uncover the hidden wonders of our universe. The Observatory’s advanced 40 cm telescope and state-of-the-art digital imager offer students and researchers the opportunity to explore the cosmos, from planets and stars to distant galaxies and exoplanet transits.
Planetarium
Bioflouresence
Get a glimpse of the flourescent world that is hidden from us with UV torches. Outside of the visible light spectrum, which is the part that the human eye can see, is a glowing ultraviolet wonderland normally only seen by creatures with specialised eyes.
Good to know:
- Wear waterproof shoes to stay dry in case of dew or rain.
- Dress in layers to stay comfortable because it can get chilly in the evening.
- Bring your normal torches.
Stay Tuned
Warwick at Night will also host a bat walk, moth survey and more. Keep your eyes peeled for our upcoming events.
