Volunteering Opportunities

Befriending

The main role of the volunteers is to socialise with the residents by providing friendly conversation and companionship. Volunteers can also help to deliver activities such as quizzes, games, cake decorating and arts and crafts.

Performing

The residents love performances and we try to get as many societies and other clubs involved with our project. If you are part of a club or society please don't hesitate to contact us - it's a great way not only to bring a smile to someone's face but to practice in front of a very eager audience!

Location and Travel

Every week the Buddy Club emails volunteers a sign up sheet where they can reserve their space on the mini bus!

You can also walk to Willowbrook from campus - walking directions!

Willowbrook, Glebe Close, Canley, Coventry, CV4 8DJ

How to get involved

Sign-up online

You will receive a weekly email with a link to the online sign up for the session that week. Places are capped due to space in the minibus and allocated on a first come first served basis.

Please contact our project leaders for more information:

Hi, my name is Jess and I am a second year History student! I find the Buddy Club to be a rewarding way to escape from the campus bubble and chill-out! It's a great way to talk, make friends, play games and have fun.

If you're interesting in getting involved with Buddy Club or just want to know a little more about what we do, you're welcome to contact me at J.Wallace.1@warwick.ac.uk :-)

Hi, I'm Yasmin and I'm a third-year Accounting and Finance student. For me, Buddy Club is a great way to meet new people and relax in the midst of a busy week. It also feels great to know that the little time I spend there actually makes a huge difference to the residents.

You're welcome to contact me at y.binti-jamilol-nasir@warwick.ac.uk

Time Commitment

Sessions run once a week for one and a half hours on a Wednesday afternoon.

We recommend volunteers try to make a regular commitment so you can really get to know the residents - the more sessions you attend the more you'll get out of the club.

Skills Required

No previous experience is required. All we ask is that you’re friendly, enthusiastic, and willing to chat and listen to residents.
