We’ve put together a list of festive volunteering opportunities and charity events in Coventry and Warwickshire; from helping the homeless, selling Christmas cards for charities or supporting those who are at risk of loneliness or isolation this Christmas there’s a range of opportunities to get involved in.
LWS Night Shelter
LWS Night Shelter help the homeless and vulnerably housed in Leamington and the wider area. We are operating as a Soup Kitchen at the moment, serving food to guests from outside of the Priors Club. Volunteers are needed to prepare and serve food on Friday Nights, Saturday Nights and Sunday Nights.

Coventry Open Christmas
Coventry Open Christmas is a voluntary organisation managed by the "Grub & Gab Club". We provide shelter and food to the homeless and lonely over the Christmas holiday. The shelter this year is being held at St Peter's Centre in Hillfields, Coventry.
We will be open for 24 hours a day across Christmas week and are looking for volunteers as well as donations.

Langar Aid
Evenings 4.00pm - 6.30pm
Langar Aid is a project in Coventry run by international humanitarian aid organisation Khalsa Aid International. We are currently serving the local homeless 7 days a week every evening. This takes places outside our premises in Spon End. We need volunteers to help prepare and pack meals that we distribute to the homeless

Cards for Good Causes
Cards For Good Causes supports more than 250 U.K national and local charities by selling Christmas cards and products online and through local pop-up shops.
They need volunteers for their new seasonal shop in the West Orchard Shopping Centre in Coventry. The shop will be open Monday-Saturday between the hours of 9:30am-5:00pm and on Sunday’s between 10:00am-4:00pm.
NHS Volunteer Responders
Volunteer Responders has been set up to support the NHS and the social care sector during the COVID-19 pandemic. To do this they need an 'army' of volunteers who can support vulnerable people in England who are at most risk from the virus to stay well.
They are looking for Check In and Chat volunteers to provide short-term telephone support to individuals who are at risk of loneliness as a consequence of self-isolation.

Letters For The NHS and Letters for Care Homes was set up by a Warwick student to connect willing letter-writing volunteers with key NHS workers who deserve some extra praise/attention and also with elderly people who may be suffering from loneliness or isolation, particularly over the Christmas period.

Many people understandably feel anxious and concerned at the moment and Carers feel this most of all as they are looking after some of the most vulnerable people in society.
Carers Trust are looking for volunteers who will make calls to Carers and see how they are getting on, offering a friendly voice and listening ear during these difficult times and helping to reduce loneliness and isolation.

Carriers of Hope, Coventry, is a charity dedicated to helping asylum seekers, refugees and Eastern European migrants in the Coventry area. They need help to sort Christmas gifts, pack shoeboxes and also help to deliver them to local families in need.

Cubbington Mill Care Home, near Leamington, are looking for volunteers to engage with older residents through video calls, letter writing or providing talks or presentations about their culture, interests or hobbies. Covid-19 mass testing volunteers
Volunteers are needed to help run Covid-19 mass testing centres in Warwickshire. They are crucial to the centres running smoothly and ensuring as many people as possible can get a test and quickly. Volunteers will help register people on arrival , give out information and ensure everyone is safe by managing the flow of people.
