The University of Warwick has been selected by Innovate UK to lead a new initiative to supercharge creative and immersive technology in Coventry and Warwickshire.

The University of Warwick’s Esports Centre played host to the Festival of Play, a one-of-a-kind school trip for 9–14-year-olds to explore careers in gaming.

Former Cabinet Minister Greg Clark has been appointed as the first Executive Chair of Warwick Innovation District– a new entity founded by The University of Warwick. The new company will oversee developments such as Arden Cross and the expansion of the Stratford-Upon-Avon Innovation Campus as well as the University’s Science Park. 

The University of Warwick has been awarded Gold in the Hedgehog Friendly Campus Awards. The national award, part funded by the British Hedgehog Preservation Society, aims to protect hedgehogs, enhance their habitats, and create awareness about their conservation.

Five University of Warwick students and alumni, including a Coventry local, will be heading to Paris to compete in this year’s Olympics and Paralympics.

The University of Warwick has been officially recognized as the best UK university for gamers, following a comprehensive study by Independent Advisor Broadband. The award comes at a pivotal time for Esports at Warwick and throughout the region. The gaming industry contributes over £1.5 billion to the West Midlands economy, with Warwick’s recently re-opened £4 million Esports centre helping to launch the careers of tomorrow’s Esports champions.
