Warwick honey generates buzz

Apiaries, comprising more than 20 colonies, at the University of Warwick have proudly become a source of local honey for staff, students and visitors. The honey is made by hard-working bees residing in an apiary on campus and are cared for in a collaborative effort by various university teams, including Warwick Conferences, the Estates Office, and volunteers from the local community and student body.

Iconic Breadfruit sculpture installed at The University of Warwick

This week, The University of Warwick welcomes Turner Prize winner, Veronica Ryan’s iconic Breadfruit sculpture on to campus where it will be installed outside the Warwick Arts Centre, joining 25 other artworks that form the University's sculpture park.

Digital pathology cleared for use in cancer screening programmes

New research funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) has led to the UK government approving the use of digital pathology to help speed up analysis of cancer screening samples. The use of this technology, based on research done by University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW) NHS Trust and The University of Warwick’s Clinical Trials Unit, will result in faster reporting of people’s samples helping to deliver world class care.

West Midlands Mayor Andy Street meets local entrepreneurs at the NatWest Clean Transport Accelerator

Now training its third cohort of SME leaders, the Clean Transport Accelerator has created 47 local jobs, increased monthly turnover of the SME’s taking part by 28% and increased their average monthly profits by 400%. Deadline to apply is 16 February.

Keir Starmer today visited WMG at the University of Warwick to meet researchers, technicians, and students at one of the world’s leading centres for industrial innovation and skills. He was joined by Labour’s mayors and mayoral candidates, including Richard Parker (West Midlands), Andy Burnham (Greater Manchester) and Claire Ward (East Midlands).

The University of Warwick awards an Honorary Doctorate to comedian, Alex Horne, for School Tasking project

On graduation day (Monday 15th Jan) Alex spent the morning running a session with 30 children from a local Coventry school. To kick things off, the children took part in a treasure hunt, and after following the clues around the University’s award-winning FAB building, they discovered the comedian hidden away in a top-floor room.

Warwick Ancient Drama Festival Returns with Aeschylus’ The Persians

The University of Warwick’s Ancient Drama Festival is set to return for its tenth year, featuring Aeschylus' The Persians. Funded by the British Academy, the festival will take place on the 25th and 26th January 2024 at the Warwick Arts Centre. A free to attend, matinee performance has also been organised for local school children.
