The International Conference of Undergraduate Research (ICUR) 2016 will be held on 27 and 28 September 2016; register now to join the audience and hear about the best undergraduate research from around the world.
Humanitarian Engineering Symposium
Monday 4 – Tuesday 5 July 2016 | MS.03 Zeeman Building
This symposium, supported through a major IATL strategic project, aims to bring together scientists, engineers and practitioners from across academia, industry, and NGOs to discuss, share and promote current research and recent developments across all aspects of engineering, from science to practical applications, which have a global Humanitarian Engineering impact.
Smart clothing workshop
Tuesday 12 July 2016, 09:30 - 16:30 | International Institute for Product and Service Innovation (IIPSI), WMG (Open to students; registration closes 8 July 2016)
You are invited to participate in and contribute to a future European and UK funding proposal on 'Smart Clothing to Self-Manage Chronic Diseases' through this workshop in which you will use co-design methods and prototyping tools to model your own smart clothing, with guidance from experts. The workshop is supported by IATL (through the Pedagogic Intervention of Dr Elisavet Dimitrokali in WMG) and the Behavioural Sciences GRP.
Warwick: One World!

The Museum of Living Stories
Wednesday 29 June 2016, 18:30 | Theatre Studies Studio, Milburn House
Join a mysterious chorus of Memory-Makers as they reveal an archive of memories, a box full of forgotten feelings and an oak tree of future hopes. This performance by Canley Youth Theatre and students from The University of Warwick, supported through an IATL funded project, has been created by collecting 'oral histories' about what we 'hope' for and what we 'care' about.
Five-year plan for ICUR and Reinvention journal approved
Our five-year business plan for the work of the International Conference of Undergraduate Research (ICUR) and our international undergraduate research journal Reinvention has been approved by the Monash-Warwick Alliance. The plan also covers the development of the ICUR Experience - a yearlong suite of activities - including the new Compass Programme, which will support students in working together in international research teams.
Promotion of IATL's Jonathan Heron
IATL is delighted to announce the promotion of Dr Jonathan Heron to Principal Teaching Fellow. The promotion is recognition of Jonny's outstanding contribution to IATL and the wider University.
New IATL-funded staff projects
Following our recent funding round we now have over 50 ongoing staff led projects across the University (Academic Fellowships, Pedagogic Interventions and Strategic Projects), all of which contribute to IATL's strategic aims of innovation, interdisciplinarity, inclusiveness and internationalisation.
The Cambridge Companion to the Literature of the American West
IATL’s Director, Nicholas Monk, is a contributor to this newly published volume. His essay looks at the "Native American Renaissance" of the 1960s and '70s. Members of the University of Warwick are able to read the book through the Library website.
