Effective TU organising in HE with Speaker from Uni of Birmingham

Rally at University of Birmingham

"A union is only as strong as its links with members."

UNISON University of Birmingham branch

During this year's #HeartUnionsWeek, we are showing why trade union work is worth your membership and why many current members heart trade unions.

Hear from UNISON University of Birmingham Branch Co-Secretary Mike Moore about their successes in bringing trade union into the frontline at Birmingham. UoB UNISON has successfully tripled their membership through organising around HE pay, Outsourcing & Boycotting the Edgbaston Park Hotel, and UoB Dubai Campus. Birmingham is also one of the many HE institutions on the front line of striking for HE pay.

Join us on Tuesday 13 February 12:00-13:00 at Oculus 1.02.

You can expect the following during the workshop:

  • Part 1: Case Study on successful campaigns from Mike Moore & Q&A with Mike:
    • Organising in cleaning services around working hours and disciplinary action
    • 2019 HE pay dispute and the Real Living Wage
    • Edgbaston Park Hotel
  • Part 2: Group exercise on organising at Warwick
