Free member learning through your union
Have you heard of UNISON college?
We take workplace learning seriously as a trade union, as it increases your sense of self-esteem, confidence, career prospects, and boost your health and wellbeing. It also helps to improve equality, build awareness about socio-political and workplace issues, and connects members with fellow members regionally and nationally.
As a member, you are entitled to free member learning organised by your union. This includes:
- Personalised Careers Guidance
- Improve English, Maths or Digital Skills
- Train to be a workplace rep or campaign for workplace issues
You can also make use of free training provided by other organisations through your trade union:
- Learn for Personal Fulfilments and Skills (flower arranging, animal care, Oven Cleaning Business, etc.)
- Open University’s Digital Short Course Platform: Open Learn
There may also be financial support available if you wish to
- Get into formal University Study via Access to HE, Birkbeck University of London, or Open University
