Study and Research Funding
Researchers in the History of Medicine have many options when it comes to funding, and CHM has a strong track record of attracting external funding in a very competitive field. The Centre for the History of Medicine itself, the Department of History, the University of Warwick, and external funders such as the Wellcome Trust, AHRC, ESRC have individual schemes to support students at MA and PhD levels, and researchers at postdoctoral level.

MA Funding
Undergraduates and others interested in the MA are encouraged to contact the History of Medicine Director for more information. For 2023-4 this is Professor Roberta Bivins

PhD Funding
The History Department supports applications for funding of PhDs in History of Medicine through university funding and applications to the Economic Social Research Council(ESRC) and the Midlands 4 Cities (M4C) Doctoral Training Partnership. Postdoctoral Funding
Research grant applications for postdoctoral funding are subject to internal application procedures (within History and Research and Impact Services) and we therefore advise you to contact both the CHM Director and the Department (at Funding Opportunities' pages. - Postdoctoral researchers can apply to the Wellcome Trust for an Early-Career Award. Please contact Professor Mathew Thomson if you are interested in making an application:
- The British Academy (BA) offers funding for Postdoctoral Fellows.
- The ESRC postdoctoral fellowship offers funding and fellowships for Early Career Researchers.
- The Leverhulme Trust offers funding for Early CareerFellows. Its general funding approach and other guidance can also be found on their website.
