Welcome to the Study Café Skills Programme for Arts Faculty Students!

Join us for a series of engaging and informative sessions designed to enhance your academic skills and wellbeing. Delivered by the DSEP team and staff and students from across the Faculty, these sessions cover a wide range of topics from academic skills to careers advice and intercultural training. Making the Most of Lectures

Often, it's hard to know what to do in a lecture - being talked at for an hour may seem daunting, so how can you maximise that time to your benefit? In this session, lecturers and students discuss their experiences of lectures, and offer some practical advice on how to prepare before, during and afterwards to make your lecture experience a useful one.

Making the Most of Seminars

Demystifying Assessments

Assessments are an inevitable fact of university life - but, faced with essays, presentations, creative tasks, forum engagement and a whole other host of styles, it can be difficult to know where to start and how to turn in strong work. This session aims to demystify assessments, presenting practical advice on assessment types and offering tips on how to effectively engage with your assessment material.

URSS Arts Showcase

Delivered by Wendy Hunt (URSS Coordinator) and Arts URSS students

Join us in the Agora for a showcase, celebrating our students who've undertaken the Undergraduate Research Support Scheme (URSS) and learning how to get involved yourself. We'll hear from Wendy Hunt, the URSS coordinator, about the scheme, and some of our Arts students will present their research. We've got guests from external organisations who want to work with students, and we'll have staff members keen on supervising projects.

This session will support students who are considering applying to the Undergraduate Research Support Scheme (URSS). It will explore how to develop an idea, look at working with a supervisor, how to complete the form and submit it, and useful tips for conducting your research.

The Power of an Arts Degree: Exploring Career Pathways and Opportunities

An Arts degree is a powerful thing. From the Creative Industries to Policymaking, Tech to Finance, Warwick Arts graduates are sought after by employers and forging their own career paths. Join us to explore where you might take your career and how we can help you to get where you want to go.

From making applications and finding internships to working and volunteering alongside your studies and turning your passion into a business, this event offers information stalls, drop-in talks and alumni stories showcasing the huge variety of opportunities and support available to Arts students on campus and beyond.

Academic writing masterclass

Two of the most common challenges at university stem from engaging with academic writing - how to read and unpick scholarly writing, and then how to put your own thoughts and ideas to the page. Often, you're just thrown in with no clue on how or where to start. In this interactive session, we look at academic writing (the good, the bad, and the ugly), and offer some practical tips and advice on how to write and read more effectively at university.

The Art of Presenting

Becoming a Global Student

Delivered by the Intercultural Training team

Join this workshop to get familiar with the concepts involved in intercultural communication. Through a range of discussions and interactive activities, you will begin to explore your own cultural attitudes, as well as reflect on your own experiences. By the end of workshop, you will have taken a step, big or small, towards your personal development and future employability.

Arts Module Fair

We're thrilled to present the second Faculty module fair, offering you the opportunity to speak with staff across the Faculty about potential optional modules you may select. The Fair will also showcase some of the wider opportunities you can pursue alongside your degree, including work placements and entrepreneurship.

Exam Readiness

As we get into the swing of exam season, it's easy to forget to look after yourself. In this session, Dr David Lees and Dr Damien Homer discuss the importance of wellbeing and self-care, and offer some practical tips and advice to support yourself during your exams and beyond.
