BLUE PLAQUE FOR IRA ALDRIDGE!

On Thursday August 3rd, BBAS, the Belgrade Theatre and the University of Warwick will honor Ira Aldridge - who died 150 years ago - and his extraordinary achievement of becoming the first black artist ever to run a British theatre - almost two hundred years ago.

Guest of Honour,the actor Earl Cameron was trained by Ira's daughter Amanda - and will be 100 on August 8th.

Assemble at Coventry's Belgrade Theatre from 2.00 to 2.15 and then join us to the site of the long-lost playhouse - in the heart of modern Coventry. The ceremony is at 2.30.
