A True and Exact History of the Island of Barbados

David Chan Smith, Assistant Professor in History at Wilfrid Laurier University, has edited an e-text edition of Richard Ligon's original History of Barbados, published in 1657. This e-book was produced for the benefit of teachers and students interested in the early modern Caribbean, and aims to provide a more accessible version of Ligon's original publication for undergraduate audiences. This edition also includes a brief introduction to the work of Richard Ligon and the world that he travelled. A printed edition of the edited work is forthcoming from Hackett, yet David Chan Smith welcomes knowledgeable readers to suggest edits that can be recomplied (and credited) into the final project.
