Old French
51 Old French (trouvère) lyric texts relating to the crusades are being placed on this website during the course of 2013 - 2017, and will be available for research and teaching purposes (most are now there). They will be in the form of up-to-date critical editions by academic experts, with translations into English and Italian, and information about manuscripts, earlier editions, versification, author, date and historical circumstances. Complete critical apparatus will be found in the collection of these texts to be published in book form, perhaps by Viella in Italy. To see the list of texts and access them click on Old French texts.
Occitan
There are some 151 Occitan (troubadour) texts relevant to the project. All are on the Rialto website run by the University of Naples at <http://www.rialto.unina.it/BdT.htm>, either in new editions produced for the project, or in existing satisfactory editions. All are accompanied by translations into English and Italian, together with information about manuscripts, earlier editions, versification, author, date and historical circumstances. All this material can be saved as web pages or copied into Word files for research and teaching purposes. Newly edited texts are generally accompanied by the complete critical apparatus, though in some cases the historical material is so extensive that the fuller version is or will be published elsewhere. To see the list of texts, click on Occitan texts, where direct links to Rialto are provided.
