Leonardo Graciotti

About

I am a current PhD student in cotutelle between the FINO Consortium (University of Genoa, University of Turin, University of Piemonte Orientale and University of Pavia) and the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, co-supervised by Guido Giglioni (University of Macerata) and Marie-Dominique Couzinet (Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne).

My research project focuses on the last university course held by the Mantuan philosopher Pietro Pomponazzi (1462–1525) on Aristotle’s De sensu et sensato (Bologna, 1524– 1525). In fact, I am working on the lecture notes collected and revised by Pomponazzi’s students, among whom stands out the name of Domenico Bonfioli (…–1571).

These still unpublished and little-studied lecture notes (reportationes) allow us not only to explore some original aspects of Pomponazzi's philosophical thought, but also to shed new light on the circle of pupils, colleagues and adversaries that revolved around Pomponazzi at the University of Bologna.

On this latter point, I intend to focus my research during the visiting period I have recently undertaken at the Centre for the Study of the Renaissance, under the supervision of David Lines (University of Warwick).
