50th Anniversary Celebration of Teaching in Venice
We are so excited to be celebrating our 50th Anniversary of Teaching History of Art in Venice in 2026-27 and look forward to meeting you on 6th/7th November 2026 in Venice.
Please see proposed itinerary below. Please complete the Form to Register for each activity you are interested in:
Friday 6th November 2026
AM/early PM Arrival in Venice and check-into your own booked accommodation
5.00pm Guided tour of our premises at Warwick Venice Centre, Palazzo Giustinian Lolin, San Marco 2893, Calle Giustinian, 30124 Venezia.
6.00pm The Frances Clarke Lecture
Speaker: Victoria Avery, Professor of European Sculpture, University of Cambridge and Keeper of European Sculpture and Decorative Arts, Fitzwilliam Museum & former Venice coordinator. The lecture will be in English.
Attended by: our alumni, our current 3rd year BA History of Art and History students, current staff including Chiara Farnea, and a few representatives from the University of Warwick and Venice
7.15pm – 8.30pm Reception with drinks and buffet in the portego of the Palazzo Giustinian Lolin.
You are free to go out to supper independently. We can provide a list of recommended eating places.
Saturday 7th November 2026
AM/early PM Choice of guided tours led by Warwick art historians and Vicky Avery including the Venice Biennale, the Frari, the Miracoli, Scuola di San Rocco. The tour times will be finalised when we have an idea of numbers. Entrance fees will be paid by individual participants at each venue.
Opportunity to walk around our premises, visit our library and read a book or two!
4.30pm -6.00pm Tea in the Palazzo Giustinian Lolin. A chance to relax with your old friends and meet new ones. Should any of you wish to discuss your career paths with our current students (particularly if they have meandered away from art history) please let us know.
7.00pm- Evening free for you to go out to supper independently. We can provide a list of recommended eating places.
This is the end of the formal arrangements as we expect you will be travelling home on Sunday or wish to spend that day exploring favourite haunts from the past.
