Teaching Fellow

Background

I am an interdisciplinary teacher, researcher and writer.

Prior to joining GSD, I held two interdisciplinary postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Warwick. I also completed my AHRC-funded PhD here in spring 2025, co-supervised between English & Comparative Literary Studies, the School of Modern Languages & Cultures and the Yesu Persaud Centre for Caribbean Studies.

Teaching responsibilities

This year, I am teaching on the following modules:

  • GD106: Social Principles of Global Sustainable Development
  • GD909: Global Challenges and Transdisciplinary Responses
  • GD217-15: Migration and Sustainable Development
  • GD904-15: Qualitative Approaches to Knowledge Generation (convenor)

I am also a Dissertation Supervisor, Personal Tutor and Ethics Officer.

I am a Founding Fellow of the Centre for Belonging in Education and an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

    Research interests

I work mostly within the environmental humanities, using methodological approaches developed within the humanities to address ecological issues. Often focusing on North America and the Caribbean, my research addresses the intertwinement of environmental and colonial histories in the western hemisphere, drawing on anticolonial and decolonial perspectives. I am particularly interested in the ways in which artistic practices can allow communities to process and protest ecological violence. To date, much of my research has been concerned with ecological grief, which I define as the emotional response to ruptures in ecosystemic relationality.
