Congratulations to five GSD students on securing URSS funding for conducting independent research projects over the summer!
The URSS (Undergraduate Research Support Scheme) enables undergraduate students at the University of Warwick to carry out an interdisciplinary research project over the summer, either in the UK or abroad, for a period of 6-10 weeks. Five GSD students managed to secure a bursary this year: Anna Matrai, Joaquín Salido Castilla, Molly Hamer-Nickells, Nicola Blasetti and Priscilla Tay. Their research projects will be presented in the form of a poster showcase at the annual URSS Research Showcase, which will take place at the start of next academic year. Below are the titles of their research projects and bursaries awarded.
Anna Matrai (final year, Economic Studies and GSD) secured £1,500 for her project 'Start-up cluster development in Indonesia: The emergence of ‘Silicon Bali’' to be conducted in Bali (Indonesia). Supervisor: Dr Alec Waterworth.
Joaquín Salido Castilla (second year, Economic Studies and GSD) secured £1,000 for his project 'The economic feasibility of carbon neutrality', for which he will be working with the Estates Office of the University of Warwick. Supervisor: Dr Alec Waterworth.
Molly Hamer-Nickells (final year, Psychology and GSD) secured £1,300 for her project 'Electrical Energy: Human Perceptions in a Nuclear World' to be conducted in Kiev (Ukraine). Supervisor: Dr Alec Waterworth.
Nicola Blasetti (final year, Politics, International Studies and GSD) secured £1,500 for his project 'Preparing for International Climate Conferences: Mapping the development of a country’s position on climate change' to be conducted in Rome (Italy) and Bonn (Germany). Supervisor: Dr Leon Sealey-Huggins.
Priscilla Tay (first year, Economic Studies and GSD) secured £825 for her project 'Sustainable finance in Singapore: Current Analysis, Blueprint for the Future and Further Recommendations' to be conducted in Singapore. Supervisor: Dr Marta Guerriero.
