As we’re approaching the Christmas holidays we thought we’d talk to you about the social side of university and all things fun! The University of Warwick has over 250 societies and sports clubs that you can join, so whatever you are interested in there’s sure to be something for you.

Over Welcome Week there will be sports and society fairs on campus – this is where you can see all the societies in one place, chat to club members and generally get a feel for the societies and sports clubs. This was one of the highlights of my first week at university because you really see how much there is to get involved with and that there is plenty to do on campus! In first year I signed up to a handful of societies, one of which was Warwick GSD Society. Warwick GSD society is great because it allows you to meet people on your course outside an academic setting. GSD society hosts ‘green week’ talks and workshops, careers in sustainability sessions, as well as potluck socials and even the society ball.

I also became very involved in Warwick Rowing club, which was where I met a lot of my closest friends. Personally, I would really encourage you to try out a new society and go to as many events as you can in your first few weeks at university. I found this to be the best way to meet new people and to get involved with events on campus. Also, as you move through university, clubs are really beneficial for wellbeing and a good change of pace to studying.

I would definitely recommend you follow this link and have a look at the list of societies and sports clubs available at Warwick.

In addition to societies, campus has a variety of cafes and restaurants, the Terrace Bar, an Arts Centre, a state of the art new gym and a grocery store. Plus plenty more to explore…

Before you go, we encourage you to join the GSD Offer Holder Facebook Group so you can ask us your questions and chat to other offer holders!
