Liberal Arts: Student Voice - SSLC

Your voice matters

Liberal Arts at Warwick centres on our student community of interdisciplinary learners. The Student-Staff Liaison Committee (SSLC) is a student-led forum for discussion, feedback, and consultation on student experience in Liberal Arts. Through the SSLC, our students shape the teaching, learning, and student support experiences within Liberal Arts.

The SSLC is comprised of Liberal Arts Course Reps - elected student representatives - and academic members of staff, known as Academic Convenors.

Course Reps collect and share feedback from students, identify and raise key issues, discuss student experience, and consult on proposals.

Course Reps are supported and trained by the Students' Union. You can find out more on the SU SSLCs webpagesLink opens in a new window.

We'd love to hear from you!

  • providing student feedback on Reading Week, leading to development of departmental policy
  • SCFS Student Equity Survey 2021 - read the full report here
  • curriculum redesign: the Liberal Arts core curriculum has been revised and updated in response to student feedback to offer more choice and flexibility, allowing for an even more personalised approach to interdisciplinary learning
  • continuing development of Liberal Arts modules, helping to refine and improve the content on offer throughout the Liberal Arts degree
  • proposing and implementing the Liberal Arts groupwork policy, embedding structured support to ensure groupwork assignments are more inclusive and accessible

SSLC Meetings

The Liberal Arts SSLC usually meets 4-5 times each academic year.

In addition, the SSLC Chair, Secretary, and EDI Rep contribute to departmental and School-level meetings and committees, including Liberal Arts Undergraduate Studies Committee, Liberal Arts staff meetings, School for Cross-Faculty Studies meetings, Education Committee meeetings, and Equity Committee meetings.

These meetings are a valuable opportunity to feedback on issues and ideas raised by the SSLC, consult with departments and representatives of the School, and to identify key topics and initiatives for future discussion at SSLC meetings.
