"Being able to engage in the key Liberal Arts modules, such as Consumption and Sustainability, expanded my view of concepts within my Economics modules; viewing problems from a philosophical, analytical and creative perspective. These skills have been applicable so far within my studies to become a chartered accountant, allowing me to approach my ACA exams from a wider point of view."

"I learned valuable skills in my study of Liberal Arts which has prepared me for the work of a commercial lawyer. For example, from the very first term, we were taught to work together as a team on group projects where I learned to be an effective and reliable team player. As a corporate lawyer, I find myself collaborating with colleagues across all levels of seniority and across global offices on each deal I work on. Being able to contribute effectively ensures the successful delivery of our work to clients.

Liberal Arts was also unique in the variety of assessment methods available to students. As well as traditional essays, we were encouraged to demonstrate our understanding through videos, presentations, and podcasts. The ability to be able to communicate with clients across multiple media is important to my work from a business development perspective, as lawyers must be agile and able to market themselves through emerging distribution channels.

Finally, I learned valuable research skills and the ability to be able to communicate complex ideas simply. As Liberal Arts is an interdisciplinary degree, we learned very early on to be comfortable at analysing problems from multiple perspectives. I use this skill every day in my work as I have to research the developing regulatory landscape across multiple jurisdictions and then distill that information effectively to clients."
