Advancing Inclusivity Through Student-Centred Anti-Racism Training

About the Project

This project is dedicated to advancing inclusivity at the University of Warwick by redeveloping an established anti-racism training package, originally created for medical students in 2021. The team aims to broaden its scope to include the entire student body, placing a strong emphasis on a collaborative approach with student co-creators at the forefront of the learning design. This approach ensures that the training is not only comprehensive but also resonates more effectively with the diverse student population. The team are committed to building upon the solid foundation of the current programme, ensuring it continues to be relevant and impactful for all university students.

Project Aims

The project has several aims:

  • The revision and enhancement of the anti-racism training developed for medical students, making it more interactive, accessible and engaging, and tailored to the varied needs of Warwick's diverse student body
  • A launch in Welcome Week 2024, with the intention of integrating the training into the Welcome Week offer ongoing (in a matter similar to the Warwick Values Moodle), reaching around 30,000 new first-year students each year
  • The inclusion of a diverse team of student co-creators in the design and development process, who will actively contribute to the project by collaboratively redesigning and adapting existing anti-racism training
  • The fostering of a zero-tolerance culture towards racism at Warwick, and the reduction of attainment gaps through inclusive education
