WIHEA Masterclass - Understanding my ‘circle of influence’ and how I can widen it
We all have a ‘circle of concern’, the things we know about and care about. We also have a ‘circle of influence’, things over which we have influence, and the places we can make a difference. Stephen Covey claims that focussing on the ‘circle of concern’ will only serve to reduce effectiveness, whereas consciously choosing to act will serve to enlarge our ‘circle of influence’. In this Masterclass workshop, led by Dr John Kirkman, you will have the opportunity, individually and in small groups, to consider your work and practice, and explore where you are acting unconsciously and how you might be able to become more deliberate in choices and so increase influence and effectiveness. Drawing on literature in the broad area of ‘self-leadership’ we will take time to think about our habits, reflect on our values, and consider approaches which could help to develop ourselves personally and serve to increase our influence. John hopes this session will shed light on taken-for-granted behaviours, increasing awareness and offering hope of change.
