CIM members are presenting at AoIR 2024
A delegation of 7 CIM members will be presenting at the annual Association of Internet Researchers (AOIR) Conference taking place in Sheffield, from 30th October to 2nd November.
Tim Highfield is in the organising committee and will be chairing the panel Times and Transformation.
Michael Dieter , Fangzhou Zhang and Iain Emsley will be presenting Exploring Appification, a panel that offers a reflection on the evolution and transformations of apps and app studies over the past decade, emphasizing how apps have seamlessly integrated into our daily routines and shaped our cultural and economic landscape.
Carlos Cámara-Menoyo and Fangzhou Zhang, along with former CIM member, Nathaniel Tkacz, will be presenting an Eventful theory for Social Media Migration that was developed during their research project Researching Platform Migration: Twitter Decline and the Rise of Mastodon.
Matias Valderrama will be presenting two of his recent works: Educated users: Refining manners through social media corporate curriculums and Platforms on trial: Mapping the Facebook Files/Papers controversy.
Jiaxun Li will be presenting Beyond the State-Centred Lens: Exploring the Infrastructualization of Platforms in China: The Case Of WeChat, which looks beyond the state-centred lens and focuses on the issues of ‘infrastructuralisation of platform’ in China.
