Sampling Sounds of Coventry's Future kicked off with an opening conversation on March 22, 2021 (via Zoom). The launch event started with an introduction by the initiators, followed by a roundtable of academics and artists working in various media.
Online training workshop: an introduction to field recording
An online workshop on listening methods took place on 22 May 2021. The event introduced participants in the Sampling Sounds of Coventry's Future project to methods, ideas and practices of making field recordings, and was facilitated by sound-studies scholar Dr Naomi Waltham-Smith.
Listening Walks in and around Coventry
During May–October 2021, the project organised a series of soundwalks in and around Coventry. These walks took us to different locations in the city and its surroundings with special relevance to the making of futures.
Sampling Sounds of Coventry's Future: Show and Tell event at Common Ground (Coventry)
Hosted by Common GroundLink opens in a new window, the multi-purpose art space in Fargo village, a final project event of sampling sounds of Coventry's Future took place on 29 October 2021. This “show and tell” event featured presentations by, artists, researchers and residents of Coventry.
