Adam Miller

I have an MChem Chemistry degree from Durham University and completed an MSc in Complexity Science here at the University of Warwick in 2011.

I am currently studying for a PhD in Complexity Science, where I am investigating a model of swarming behaviour that includes a global term, based on local knowledge that a swarm member could plausibly possess. More generally my interests are the application of statistical physics techniques to mechanistic models in biology and the collective behaviour of animals. I also have a strong interest in functional descriptions of biology and in particular, evolutionary game theory in this context.

I have recently moved on from solely looking at flocking in birds, to beginning to simulate phototaxis in thermophoretic particles.

I was a member of the Warwick Complexity PhD students' Statistical Physics of Social Dynamics reading group organised by Anthony Woolcock.
